Pleasantly surprised with M1. I work with spreadsheets (with thousands of formatted data) most of the time and simultaneously use Google Chrome at least 8 hours every day. This is more than 2x faster than my i5 8gb RAM work PC and i7 16gb RAM work laptop. It’s only been a week since I started using this so I’m still hoping that it’ll maintain consistency in performance in the long run.

MacBook Air was as described! Performance is great. Read and write speed to and from external USB and SSD drives is a giant leap from the speed of Intel i7 MacBook Pro. MS Office has been updated and works flawlessly with the M1 chip of the new MacBook Air. If one plans to use it beyond basic applications (Mail, MS Office, Adobe apps like Photoshop etc.), do not despair. Just like in the old good times before Apple switched to Intel chips, there is Rosetta 2, which will run software written for Intel architecture just as good as on MacBooks with Intel chips.
